This famous festival takes place in Cordoba, Spain, in the first week of May.  This year runs from May 2 to May 13.  Since 1921 home owners compete for a prize for the best decorated courtyard and intimate and private spaces become public to share with visitors beautiful walls and windows covered with colourful flowers and decorations.  There are also many convents and buildings beyond the private sector which include monument patios, for example the Palacio de Viana, also known as the Patio Museum, a magnificent building original of the 14th Century.  It has twelve courtyards and a wonderful lush garden in the baroque style with pools and fountains, highly recommended for a visit.
