Cernobbio is the first village after the town of Como to the west, along the Via Regina.  It is an elegant, quiet place full of charm, ideal for those who are willing to enjoy their stay avoiding the crowds of tourists that pack the streets of the city of Como.  In the second half of May takes place the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este (Competition of Elegance of Villa d’Este), an elegance competition for classic and vintage cars, an event  not to miss if you are visiting the area on this date.

Cernobbio is so nice that you feel totally relaxed. It is a very stylish small place situated on the shores of Lake Como, with its square, its narrow and quiet streets, its restaurants and trattoria and its elegant residents

EAT

We all know that food in Italy is spectacular and you eat well wherever you go.  Although Cernobbio is a small place there are many good restaurants to eat at affordable prices.

Osteria del Beuc  Via Felice Cavallotti, 1 Great food and good service. We had a fantastic risotto al gorgonzola e mele and an octopus salad.  The dessert was an unbelievable biscotti and Vin Santo.

The Trattoria La Vignetta is another good option for lunch or dinner.  It is a rustic restaurant with a quiet terrace overlooking the countryside.  It also works as a family run hotel offering basic and functional rooms with nice views. Some have balconies.

A boat trip on Lake Como is the perfect way to see the lake and its landscapes, the villas and small villages. You can move around easily, there are different options from  taxi boat services to rental car companies, bicycle, buses or boat cruises.  Navigation Laghi is a good option.

Cernobbio is very small and the choices are few however a stroll along the narrow streets of the old town and the lovely promenade is a must.

Visit one of the world’s finest hotels or even better, stay there. The Villa d’Este is just a few blocks away from  Piazza Risorgimento, the main square and the heart of Cernobbio.  The gardens of Villa D’Este are a delight to the eye
