The European Night of Museums (Night at the Museum) was created in 2005 by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.  Hundreds of museums  in cities all over Europe will open their doors free of charge from 7p.m. to 1a.m., and visitors will be able to enjoy for free museum collections and exhibitions, and participate in various activities and events.  Check the website for info.
